Nemesia Knit Dress
Here is another indie pattern I was able to test. The Nemesia knit dress by Glasshouse Patterns. This knit dress is perfect due to the many variations it can be made into. There are two neck versions, a crew neck and a v neck option which gives the pattern a slightly different look. There is also a few sleeve variations. First the dress can be made with short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, as well as long sleeves. In addition, there is a cuff version to the sleeves or an optional tie version to the sleeves. So as you can see, this dress can be made into several different styles.
While I really liked all of the versions, I opted to make the 3/4 sleeves with the cuff. For my fabric, I used a liver pool knit that I picked up a few months back from Finch Fabrics Los Angeles. The beautiful textured kelly green fabric worked perfectly for this dress. There are no notions as the dress is a pull over dress. You only need a small amount of interfacing for the neck facing.
Sewing and Adjustments
I was able to whip this dress up quickly. There are not many pattern pieces, which are always a big plus for me. I did have to make a few adjustments to the pattern to suit my body style. The first adjustment was I had to shorten the length of the sleeve. Although I used the 3/4 sleeve, it was more like a high water long sleeve for me, so I shortened the length 1 1/2 inches. I also had to use the largest sleeve on pattern. The recommended sleeve width on the pattern was much too tight for my arms. In the future, I would prefer to lengthen the dress about two or three inches, as the finished length was a tad bit short for me.
Overall, I love this dress. It is such a quick sew, and very easy to put together. The instructions are very well written with helpful images with each step. With all of the variations from the neckline to the sleeve, there is something for just about anyone. The Nemesia dress is definitely a much have for the spring, summer and fall seasons. This is the second dress I have tested for this company, so be sure to check out my other pattern reviews on this company.
