Linen Maxi Peasant Skirt
When the opportunity came up to test the Phoebe Maxi skirt, I knew I wanted to take part. I love wearing skirts, and in particular maxi peasant skirts. The Phoebe Maxi, by Pattern Union, is a skirt which comes in two styles. There is an A line version and a peasant skirt version. This pattern is a part of a series called the Phoebe collection, which features cute pants, overalls, and a top.
Fabric Choices
The A line version is nice, and would look great in a knit fabric. The peasant skirt options has a greater fabric range in my opinion. This style would look great in knits, linen, denim, rayon, and cottons. I made the maxi peasant skirt version in a 100% black linen fabric that I had in my stash. I have quite a bit of this fabric, so you will see it in many more of my future makes.
Both skirts have side pockets, and optional back pockets. The waist has the option of high waist or a lower waist with an elastic casing. No other notions outside of elastic and thread are needed to create the skirt. I omitted the back pocket on my skirt due to the fabric choice. I knew I would never utilize the back pockets anyway.
This was a very easy skirt to make, I would highly recommend it to any level sewist. The skirt took me roughly an hour to put to together. The only adjustment I made was to shorten the second and third tier by half an inch. As you can see in the pictures, even after being hemmed, I could have shortened it just a tad more.
Overall Review
I love this skirt, and will definitely make more. The side pockets and the comfort of the elastic waist are a great feature. I have plans on making another one in a knit fabric, and will shorten every level by half an inch this time. With so many style options with the Phoebe collection, you can create an endless wardrobe.
