Instagram Top Nine
Here is a look at my top nine posts on Instagram for the 2019 year. This is my first year joining Instagram and have met so many wonderful sewists in the sewing community. I also learned a great deal about Indie pattern designers. Prior to joining the sewing community, I was only familiar with the top 4 pattern companies. Needless to say, the year was great, and I look forward to all to come in 2020. Let’s take a look at the top nine posts.
2019 Top Nine Makes
The first is my DIY summer dress using Vogue 9021. I love the print of the cotton sateen fabric I used to make this dress. Unfortunately, I can no longer fit this dress. However, I will keep it to use as motivation to lose a few pounds this upcoming year.
Next, is my Ankara top using Simplicity 8512. This is another favorite of mine. The rich colors are so vibrant. I actually styled this top with some jeans and it was a hit.
The Erin dress by style sew me is next on the list. This was my first make with an indie pattern designer. Let me just say this opened up a whole new world of patterns for me. I made this with a chevron rayon print.
Next is the colorful shirt dress I made using Simplicity 8908. I picked up this silky polyester print from Joann’s fabrics. This worked so well, as it is extremely comfortable. As a bonus, it ties in perfectly with Mardi Gras here in New Orleans.
Mccall’s 7774 is the pattern I used to create this beautiful cotton lawn maxi dress. The only downer to this dress is how heavy it is because I had to use two layers of cotton batiste to line the dress. The cotton lawn fabric was so sheer, it almost ripped a few times.
Instagram Best Nine 2019
I used a red Ponte knit fabric to make the Kielo wrap dress. This was the second indie pattern that I worked with, and also my first experience with a PDF pattern. The dress is super comfortable and has been made numerous times by many sewists on Instagram.
McCall’s 7950 is the pattern I used to create this linen tie front summer dress. I love this fabric so much that I bought it for three different times. The mustard color has become one of my favorites for 2019. I have several makes with this same color scheme.
This beautiful flowy dress was made using McCall’s 7402. I purchased this stunning blue Ankara print fabric from a subscription box from Ankara and Lace. The fabric is super soft, and the print is perfect for this flowy style dress.
The last make that made the top nine of Instagram is this cute Ankara top and skirt I made for my daughter’s prom a few years back. I self drafted the top and the skirt and used a popular dashiki print.
It is fun looking back at some of the makes for the year. It is also interesting to see what others perceive as the best makes, versus what I think are my best makes. What are some of your favorite makes from this past year?
