D.I.Y. Dress for Valentine’s Day
I really do not celebrate many holidays, especially smaller ones. I was shopping in Walmart for a couple of days and saw this beautiful red Ponte knit fabric. I grabbed two yards of it and decided to make a quick dress for Valentine’s day. What better dress than the Vogue 9021 that I recently made in a gorgeous black and white abstract fabric?
Fabric Selection and Adjustments
I was unsure at first if this knit would work with this dress, as it was not on the recommended fabric. Despite it all, I went ahead and made it and I could not be happier with the finished results. Not only is the dress extremely comfortable, but it looks amazing. The knit fabric allows the flutter sleeves to drape nicer than the cotton sateen I used in the first dress. I finished it with an invisible zipper closure and I hemmed it with my cover stitch machine for a nice professional finish.
Overall, this dress was a quick and easy sew. This is the perfect dress for valentine’s day. It only takes about an hour to put together and will work well with many fabrics. If a solid red is not your thing, try mixing it up with a bright print or pattern.
